The Superhero movie Green Lantern topped Philippine box-office for the opening weekend of June 15 to 19 with a haul of P72 million, according to Box Office Mojo. And from the period of up to June 20 including the extended holiday for Jose Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary, the Ryan Reynolds-starrer accumulated P85.66 million, this one according to Warner Bros. Philippines.

The figure has now become the holder of the year’s biggest opening weekend for a Warner title surpassing “Red Riding Hood” and “Sucker Punch”, and the second-biggest of 2011 industry-wide outgrossing “X-Men: First Class,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Thor”.

Placing second, on the other hand, is local romantic drama “Forever and a Day” with P23.27 million box-office gross in its first 5 days. This is really tough for the Sam Milby-KC Concepcion starrer because their film is vying against 7 Hollywood summer movies and getting the no. 2 spot is already commendable.

Meanwhile, “X-Men: First Class” settled for no. 3 after topping Philippine box-office for 2 weeks in a row. “Super 8″ is at no.4 while “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” starring Jim Carrey debuted at no. 5.

Sam Milby told Push.com.ph that there is really no one special in his life right now. The Rockoustic Heartthrob considered pursuing international singer Marie Digby, but they both decided that a long distance relationship wouldn’t work out for them. “We just decided to be friends. It was easy kasi never kaming umabot sa M.U. (mutual understanding) or exclusively dating na status. Mahirap kasi e. Wala akong regrets kasi kahit papa’no I made a good friend. We still keep in touch naman e.”

When asked if this is the best time for him and Sarah Geronimo to take their friendship to the next level, Sam believed that the Popstar Princess is too focused on her showbiz career to entertain any suitors right now. “Yeah, we used to be romantically linked to each other when we were doing Idol. I don’t know... I think she’s very concentrated sa career niya ngayon. I think everyone knows that. With Sarah, I really enjoy working with her. Nakakakilig naman si Sarah and may communication pa rin naman kami.”

Being single can be fun and liberating according to Sam, but he acknowledged the fact that there are times when he misses having a girlfriend as well. “I am a very positive person. Wala akong problema kahit single ako. Hindi ako yung type na kailangan ng relationship para maging happy. Happy naman ako kahit single ako since I have lots of friends. But it can be medyo lonely sa bahay kasi magisa lang ako dun. Ang kasama ko lang yung P.A., yung ate niya at mga stay-ins ko. No family. Just me lang talaga. So minsan parang nakakalungkot din.”

After much prodding, however, Sam admitted that he has a new crush from the biz, but he wants to keep the girl’s identity for now. “Meron akong nakyukyutan. Secret kung sino. Pero crush lang naman yun. Honestly, I am not talking or texting with anybody. Basta dadating naman yung love life e. Feeling ko swerte ako next year. We’ll see,” he beamed.
